The Print Events notification on Windows is derived from data presented to the printer queue by the application printing the file. In some cases it is possible that this application will not correctly pass the original file name, but instead may offer a generic file name. For example:
- Microsoft Edge will use the document name "PDF file" for all PDF files
In the event of a generic filename being presented, it may be possible to identify the file in question by using the relative time search feature and filtering on file events to find recently opened files.
